eBay - Give a toy store.
A window installation allowing people to donate a toy to a child this Christmas. It’s a fun and innovative way to bring out everyones giving side this Christmas. You can also visit the store online.
Brands are constantly having to use new and exciting ways to make their product or service more desirable in todays society. This is a cute board game style packaging idea from Corona. Using the bottle caps as the counters and packaging as the board. I think this is a cute, fun way of getting people not only to buy Corona but to also interact with them.

“For gifts you can’t wait to give”
I’m a bit late on blogging about this I know, as it premiered a few weeks back on X Factor but this ad is simply genius. Perfect twist at the end.
RAPP gives a grad a go
What an amazing story! It just goes to show there really is grad jobs out there!
Yet again, I find myself apologising for neglecting my blog.
Another update of the things i’ve been doing…
My creative partner and I have decided to part our ways as he has just landed a job at Sapient Nitro (formally DAD) in Battersea, London. I’m very pleased for him and wish him all the best in his new job, as this is a fantastic opportunity for him!
I have now decided my strengths at the moment lie within planning, strategy, account handling and media. This comes from me being a very well organised individual, with a great eye for detail, ability to pitch and present to clients and able to write great understandable briefs. This is why I am now looking for jobs and internships/placements within account handling/planning roles, mainly junior account executive roles.
Finding a job in this area started out tough as I had very little experience on my CV in the field of work. So, I decided to hop down to London for a week or two. I emailed about 20-25 agencies regarding a bit of advice or some work experience and one got back to me, explaining they would love me to come and work with them for a week.
This agencies was Proximity London, situated near Marleybone Tube Station. I had a great time experiencing working in an agency, working in London (loving rush hour, obviously) and working with the team there.
While I was on placement there, I worked with the P&G products team on general day to day accounts. Jobs included; generating keywords for websites, researching Twitter sites, embedding YouTube videos into websites, researching digital campaigns at the moment and general client and creative account handling.
This was a great experience for me and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Proximity and do hope to go back soon. From getting this experience on my CV it has opened up interviews for similar job roles for internships and actual jobs. So, things are looking up!
I’ve not blogged in a while due to being very busy but I thought i’d share some more ad placement news.
I recently embarked on a two week placement at McCann Erickson in Birmingham with my creative partner James Clifton (@cliffioo).
We won the placement through our university course awards (The Dave Awards).
During the placement it was nice to see what a different agency life was like as I have come to realise no two agencies are the same.
We met some very nice people and learnt a lot from them in terms of idea generation. We were working on two live briefs for them and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Also, if there is anyone going on placement there in the near future they have a great ‘Bistro’ where you can buy food for very cheap!
You learn a new thing everyday.

White is the new green.
Simply painting your roof white reflects the sun’s rays, which helps cool down the environment. in the fight against global warming, one degree cooler in our cities equates to three degrees cooler at the poles. Which means a better chance of survival for animals like the Arctic Fox, whose home is melting at a rapid rate.
My good friends Kerry Leslie and Sophie Benson (fellow recent grads from BIAD) have set up a great fashion and arts based magazine named FAKE. Issue one was a great success and they now need everyones help to continue in their success, heres a few words from them…
“After the success of their launch Issue in June, FAKE Magazine has announced the launch date of Issue Two. FAKE is a quarterly fashion and arts based magazine, born of two graduates from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design; Kerry Leslie and Sophie Benson. The magazine showcases many talented individuals, including a range of illustrators, independent businesses, fashion labels, interesting projects and great photography. FAKE promotes talent in a printed magazine, an opportunity which is invaluable to further their career and widen their audience.
FAKE will be available to buy online as of the 1st September 2011, priced £4 (+ £1.50 P&P) and is also sold in the listed stockists on their website. All costs go back into the production of the magazine, by buying FAKE you are ensuring more gifted creatives have the outlet to promote their work; you also get a beautifully put together, limited edition magazine!

For the last two weeks me and James Clifton (@cliffioo) have been on placement at Cogent Elliott in Meriden. We won the placement through the B-Hive scheme in the Digital section. We spent two weeks in the digital design department and met some great people. It was great to understand how an agency works and working on live briefs for clients. While there we worked on two integrated briefs and we’ll be working one of them up for our portfolio. Being at Cogent for two weeks was very rewarding for us. Heres a few things i learnt:
1) Make tea.
2) Always ask question, go to the people in your department and ask what they think of the work your producing.
3) Smile and be enthusiastic.
4) Be on time.
5) Stay late if you can and everyone else in the office is.
6) Enjoy it and try and get as much out of the experience as you can!
7) Bring in cake!
